Day 5 with more wind

On Friday there was the same winddirection with 10 to 17 knots, gusts up to 20. Two races where done by perfect conditions. Starts under "Papa" without any recall. Holding the nose to the sun all crews have to hike the whole beat.
Florian Felzmann / Michael Felzmann / Stephan Beurle sailed without risk to places 3 and 4 in these races and gained one point to Sandor Varjas / Lazlo Kovacsi / Gabor Meretei, who won a race, but got 7th in the other. The distance is now 2 points. Another two points back there are waiting Christian Spießberger / Gerhard Schlipfinger / Max Reisinger on place three to have the chance to win their first international Soling title.
According to the rules one race must be served for the last raceday. Tomorrow these three teams are the favorits - and they are very close together!

Raining, shifty and calm wind

On Wedesday the Race Officer keeps the feeld in the club: raining cats and dogs with wind mostly less than 4 knots but also gusts up to 10 knots shifting more than 60 degrees made no race possible. The athmosphere in the club was perfect and so nobody cares about waiting inside. When AP over A was hoisted the Zipfer bar started and italian prosciutto, parmesan, olives and grisini where given for free to all competitors.
Tomorrows forcast promises better wind...

Soling World Championship – no wind at Lake Chiemsee

From May 2nd to May 7th, the Soling sailors, who had travelled from all over the world, met at Lake Chiemsee to sail a world championship again after two years. The SCK was well represented at this event. A total of 11 members travelled to Lake Chiemsee: Florian and Michael Felzmann with Stephan Beurle on board the AUT 7, Martin Zeileis on the GER 308 with Karl and Irene Haist, helmsman David Schuh with his crew Lorenz Pichler and Theo Bawart on AUT 135, AUT 43 with Moritz and Bernhard Strauch (the boat was steered by Louisa Müller 420 youth world champion) and Ludwig Beurle with Christian Fischer and Markus Gnan on board the AUT 102.

To get straight to the point - for the first time since 1979 there was not a single race due to insufficient wind. Lake Chiemsee showed its beautiful side in the first few days, lots of sunshine with rain showers in the evening, but more than two knots of wind did not materialize. After that the weather changed and rain set in, but the wind conditions remained similar. It was enough for a start on Friday and we all sailed out full of hope, but after about 30 minutes the wind was gone again and our race officer abandoned the race.

This situation gave us plenty of time to make new contacts and refresh the older one. We collected some entries for Steinbach Soling European Championship 2022 at Lake Attersee. The entry-list shows already 23 entries and more will come.
